Centre of Curling Excellence Blazing New Trails with State-of-the-art Technology

The Centre of Curling Excellence is again blazing new trails for curling and training in eastern Canada. With the continued help of the Université of Moncton, the CCE is now incorporating a motion capture system to enhance the analysis of the curling delivery.
The Centre of Curling Excellence, as the New Brunswick Curling Association’s official training center, hosts 4-5 week-long curling camps during the summer with over 300 participants and growing. The use of motion capture will further strengthen the already-proven training at these camps.

The CCE camps have participants coming from across Canada, the USA and, on occasion, from as far away as Japan and Spain. It also prides itself in bringing in some of the top high performance coaches and athletes from around the world as guest instructors. In preparation for the 2018 summer curling camps. the CCE is currently in talks with Eve Muirhead from Scotland and Thomas Ulsrud from Norway.

The CCE is pro-active in its approach to curling, whether in attracting top talent or in continued research and development . The goal is always to grow the sport for the benefit of all curlers from recreational to elite athlete. The motion capture system is just another step towards the CCE being the eastern Canada training centre for curlers worldwide. The system, which is not new to other sports, will help curlers, coaches and trainers fine tune their deliveries with more detailed analysis than ever. With the endorsement of the NBCA, the system will also be used in coaching courses to help train new coaches with delivery analysis.
