Brier Bid

As you’ve already heard, the City of Moncton and Curl Moncton have announced their bid to host the 2019 Brier at the new downtown events centre! There were large turnouts at the announcement and the community kick-off event and enthusiasm is growing behind the push to bring it back to the Maritimes. Pre-sale tickets will go a long way to showing the community’s support for the bid, so reserve your seats today to help Bring on the Brier! You can find more information at https://www.monctonbrier2019.ca/.

MCA Sale and Expansion Update

Following the Special General Meeting on Feb. 20, planning continued towards the goal of expanding to 10 sheets. We now have a signed purchase and sale agreement for the MCA with a closing date of June 30, 2017. The club also sought updated proposals from four companies. A contractor has now been selected and commissioned to draft designs for the project. We are working to finalize all aspects of both the expenses and funding required before we proceed and we hope to have further news on the expansion in the weeks ahead.

U18 Championships

From April 18-22, the best 24 under-18 boys and girls teams from across Canada came to Moncton to compete in Curling Canada’s first U18 Championships. The teams, their families and Curling Canada all spoke very highly of the event, which was in large part due to hard work of our organizing committee and the over 125 volunteers who committed countless hours to ensure everyone enjoyed their time in Moncton. Thank you for making this event a great success!

Have a safe and happy summer and we look forward to seeing you again in the fall!
